PREPARATION
Wash the fruit, remove the core, the pit and the seeds but leave the peel intact. Cut the fruit into cubes about 2 to 3 cm in size and place the fruit cubes in a large container with the wine, spices and sugar. Take the lemon and orange, cut them in half and cut one half of each into cubes. Cut the other half of each fruit into thin slices about ½ cm in size. Add the lemon and orange to the container, mix all the ingredients together and then cover the container with cling film and place it in the fridge. Leave it to chill overnight or for at least 12 hours. Add ice cubes and sparkling mineral water just before serving. Serve your Sangria well chilled. You can also garnish your glasses with mint leaves.
Top tip for a more sophisticated flavour: the name Sangria comes from the word for blood because red wine is used to make the drink. We suggest giving your Sangria an Italian twist by using a sparkling white wine like Prosecco or a sweet Malvasia from Colli Piacentini to enhance the sweetness of the drink. As for red wine, try using a red Malvasia di Casorzo – a fragrant sweet red wine from Piemonte, perfect with fruit. And finally, try replacing the sparkling water with lemonade…bubbles and taste guaranteed! For a more Latin feeling, enjoy your Sangria with our Croc Canyon snacks. Pata’s Croc Canyon corn bites are born from the rural traditions of the Po Plain. Try the rosemary flavour bites as well.
Fried white beans, salted and seasoned with spices or paprika.
